Happy Wife, Happy Life

Dear Sawyer,

Two conversations we had today:

Conversation #1
Me: How was school?
You: Good.
Me: Did you get my note?
You: Yes, I got it.
Me: Did you go to the cafeteria for lunch or did you eat in your classroom?
You: I went to the cafeteria. I sat next to Rihaan. It was great! [short pause] Anymore questions?

**You were playing with your toys so I guess I was interrupting your flow with my afterschool interrogation, haha!

Conversation #2
You: Is it hard to be a parent?
Me: Yes. It's one of the hardest jobs in the world.
You: I don't want to have any kids. I only want to have a wife.
Me: You can do that. Not everyone has kids.
You: But it might not work out that way.
Me: What do you mean?
You: If my wife wants kids, I would have them. And I would take care of them because I am responsible.
Me: So you would have kids to make your wife happy?
You: Yes. I want her to have a happy life, just like you want me to have a happy life.

You are such a sweet boy. And I love our chats!

Love,
Mom

Friendly Encounter

Dear Sawyer,

Our conversation after school today:

You: I am making so many new friends at school!
Me: That's so nice! Who did you make friends with?
You: Aaron.
Me: How did you become friends?
You: He came up to my desk and asked me, "Do you want to be friends with me?" And I said, "Okay!"

Life is so simple when you're younger!

Love,
Mom
