Dear Sawyer,
A few months ago, I took you to see Brandon Stanton's Dear New York exhibit in Grand Central Terminal. Several of your classmates' written profiles were featured in the art installation, so you really enjoyed seeing them, as well as the other profiles that were showcased. As such, I bought Stanton's book, Humans of New York: Stories, for you for Christmas. You were excited when you opened it and eagerly read it over two days. I did not screen the book, however, and did not know how, um, mature some of the profiles in it are, so I spent those two days fielding questions from you that included: "What does 'getting high' mean? How do you pronounce marij-u-ana?" Oh, and my personal favorite: "Mama, what is a rapist? What does it mean when this woman said she's scared to face her rapist?" Holy crap.
