Eight Is Great

Dear Sawyer,

When JieJie picks a random number, she always goes with 1,003:

"I read for 1,003 hours."
"I haven't had dessert in 1,003 days."

When it comes to units of time, your magic number is 8. When you are taking a bubble bath and I tell you that you can stay in the bath for one more minute, you say, "No, 8 minutes." If I say we have to leave for school in 5 minutes, you reply, "No, 8 minutes." Sometimes this backfires because I will say that you can play for 15 more minutes and you say, "No, 8 minutes."

If you are requesting several of something, though, you always request three because, as you explain, "I'm 3."

"I want 3 pretzels because I'm 3."
"Can I have 3 cars because I'm 3?"
"I will give you 3 kisses because I'm 3."

The flip side to that last one is that after you give me those 3 kisses, you sometimes state that I have to give you 37 kisses because I'm 37. I oblige . . . but it takes awhile!
